In vitro effects of 28-homobrassinolide (HBl) were evaluated on morphological and biochemical parameters of susceptible (Pusa Ruby) and resistant (PNR-7) cultivars of tomato, 5 days after nematode inoculation. In susceptible cultivar, nematode invasion reduced the plant growth while growth was enhanced after brassinosteroid treatment. In case of resistant plants, nematodes were not able to invade the roots and here also, pre-sowing treatment of seeds with HBl further enhanced the growth of plants. An increase in specific activities of antioxidative enzymes (catalase, ascorbate peroxidase, guaiacol peroxidase, glutathione reductase, glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase) was observed in susceptible plants treated with HBl. In resistant cultivar, nematode inoculation increased the specific activities which were further enhanced with HBl treatment. The results obtained in the present study indicated the ameliorative effects on tomato varieties treated with HBl even after nematode stress. Thus, suggesting a possible role of HBl in lessening the oxidative stress generated during nematode invasion and boosting the resistance capacity of plants.  相似文献

Inflorescence structure and floral morphology has been studied in 19 accessions of C. quinoa. All the accessions show gynomonoecy and bear three basic flower types viz. hermaphrodite, chlamydeous female and achlamydeous female and number of types can be extended to five considering the size of flowers. Ten types have been classified on the basis of the proportion of hermaphrodite and female flowers and their arrangement, depending upon the number of divisions of the dichasium on the glomerule. Implications of these results in facilitating intervarietal crosses are discussed.  相似文献

24-Epibrassinolide (EBL) is considered the most probable brassinosteroid (BR) candidate that could be used for practical application in agriculture. EBL-induced stress-protective properties were evaluated in in vitro-grown tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) varieties Pusa Ruby (susceptible to nematodes) and PNR-7 (resistant to nematodes) during nematode pathogenesis. Sterilized tomato seeds treated with 10?11, 10?9, or 10?7 M EBL and germinated in vitro were inoculated with second-stage juveniles of Meloidogyne incognita [(Kofoid and White) Chitwood]. Whole plant analyses of morphological and biochemical parameters 7 d after inoculation showed significant improvements in plant growth and development for both varieties and a highly significant reduction in the number of galls in the susceptible variety. Increased specific activities of antioxidative enzymes (catalase, ascorbate peroxidase, glutathione reductase, glutathione peroxidase, guaiacol peroxidase, and superoxide dismutase) were observed in EBL-treated seedlings of both varieties, but increases were higher in the resistant variety. A highly significant increase in antioxidants (ascorbic acid content, total flavonoid content, total glutathione content, and total phenolic content) was observed in EBL-treated Pusa Ruby seedlings, whereas in PNR-7, significant increases were found except for total flavonoid content, which increased non-significantly. Confocal microscopic images showed amelioration of stress in roots of EBL-treated seedlings as indicated by the decrease in level of green fluorescence in them as compared to untreated and nematode-inoculated roots.  相似文献

Biodiversity has undergone a major decline throughout recent decades, particularly in farmland. Agricultural practices are recognized to be an important pressure on farmland biodiversity, and pesticides are suspected to be one of the main causes of this decline in biodiversity. As part of the national plan for reduction of pesticides use (Ecophyto), the French ministry of agriculture launched the 500 ENI (nonintended effects) monitoring program in 2012 in order to assess the unintended effects of agricultural practices, including pesticide use, on biodiversity represented by several taxonomic groups of interest for farmers. This long‐term program monitors the biodiversity of nontargeted species (earthworms, plants, coleoptera, and birds), together with a wide range of annual data on agricultural practices (crop rotation, soil tillage, weed control, fertilizers, chemical treatments, etc.). Other parameters (e.g., landscape and climatic characteristics) are also integrated as covariates during the analyses. This monitoring program is expected to improve our understanding of the relative contribution of the different drivers of population and community trends. Here, we present the experience of setting up the 500 ENI network for this ambitious and highly complex monitoring program, as well as the type of data it collects. The issue of data quality control and some first results are discussed. With the aim of being useful to readers who would like to set up similar monitoring schemes, we also address some questions that have arisen following the first five years of the implementation phase of the program.  相似文献
